A Natural Approach to Healing
Holistic medicine is the art and science of healing that addresses the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Shin Shin Kaisen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui treatment for the improvement of body and mind) founded by Mikao Usui is Reiki - a simple form of energy healing that has been shown to be effective in stimulating and promoting the body's natural healing response.
Jikiden Reiki®, is the original Reiki, entirely free of "Western" and New Age influences. It is brought to us directly from Japan via the Jikiden Reiki® Institute of Japan. It is Reiki as it was originally practiced and taught by the founder, Usui Mikao and passed down to Dr. Chijuro Hayashi, one of the 20 original teachers of Reiki.
LightWorks Reiki offers Jikiden Reiki® Sessions and Training Seminars and is certified through the Jikiden Reiki® Institute of Japan.
In addition to Reiki, LightWorks Reiki also offers Aromatics Aromatherapy Services and Products. As a Certified Aromatherapist through the Aromahead Institute, Aromatherapy is offered as a complementary path to holistic and nature based wellness.
Who I Am and What I Do
My Reiki journey started in 2005 during a time of great stress and personal tragedy. I experienced my first Reiki session while at an unrelated weekend seminar. I didn’t know what to expect as I had never heard of Reiki, but I was in a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion and needed to find something that could possibly provide some relief and healing. Immediately following my Reiki session, I knew I had found what I was seeking. Reiki was to become a “tool” that would help me through each day. I quickly sought to learn Reiki and by 2007, I was a certified Reiki “Master” in the Western Reiki tradition. Reiki and meditation became daily tools to support, allow, and guide me to move forward through grief and daily life.
Practicing and teaching Reiki on a regular basis, I felt as if I was moving toward something more, that there was more to Reiki that I had yet to understand, learn and integrate. In 2011, I attended my first Jikiden Reiki® Seminar with Frank Arjava Petter, Vice Chairman of the Jikiden Reiki® Kenkyukai (Institute) of Japan and world renowned author and Reiki historian. Immediately, I felt that I had “come home” to Reiki.
Jikiden Reiki®, with its simplicity, beauty and rich history resonated so deeply with me and has helped to bring me to where I am today, to the person I have become and continue to evolve and grow into. My passion for Jikiden Reiki®, its history and benefits, has led me to share Jikiden Reiki® with others enabling them to find their own healing paths and to live lives filled with good health, peace and contentment.
In 2007, I first opened LightWorks Reiki, offering Reiki services from my home. I now offer Jikiden Reiki® Sessions and Seminars from my offices in Streetsboro, OH and Moriah, NY. I am a fully insured Reiki and Aromatherapy professional.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Elmira College, Elmira, NY. My post-graduate studies include Special Education and Counseling. Since 1979, I have worked in the fields of teaching and human services, my experience ranging from work with children, adolescents, special populations and adults in both educational and private sector settings.
In 2014, I fulfilled my dream of completing the Jikiden Reiki® Shihan (Teacher) Seminar, again having studied with Frank Arjava Petter of the Jikiden Reiki® Institute of Japan. LightWorks Reiki is the home of Jikiden Reiki® Upstate NY, member of the Jikiden Reiki® Institute NPO.
Having experienced the benefits of Reiki first-hand, I reach out to share the relaxation and health benefits of Jikiden Reiki® with others, combining my personal experiences, knowledge and training to provide a holistic approach to well-being.
In addition to my Reiki practice, I am also a Certified Aromatherapist having completed my certification through the Aromahead Institute in January 2019. I provide Aromatherapy Consultations and create Custom Hand-Crafted Products and Blends.
